Simon Phillips to star at UK Show

Simon Phillips, one of world’s most respected drummers, is to appear at Manchester Central’s UK Drum Show, appearing at 5pm on Sunday 24th September, organiser Gold Media and Events has confirmed. Phillips joins a list of superstar drummers that already includes: Thomas Lang, Dennis Chambers, Emmanuelle Caplette and JR Robinson on the Saturday, George Kollias, Stanley Randolph, Craig Blundell & Michael , on the Sunday.

With a track record across most musical genres and with some of the world’s top bands and solo artists, Simon Phillips’ musical career began at the early age of twelve, performing and recording with his father’s, Sid Phillips’, Dixieland band until he turned sixteen when he joined the London production of the musical “Jesus Christ Superstar”. Simon soon became one of London’s most celebrated session drummers. In his early twenties he was well on his way to having an unparalleled musical career.

To date he has toured and recorded with many bands and artists, including: Mick Jagger, The Who, Jeff Beck, Jack Bruce, Peter Gabriel, Joe Satriani, Tears for Fears, Judas Priest, Roxy Music, Michael Schenker, Nik Kershaw, Al DiMeola, 801, Pete Townshend, Robert Palmer, Stanley Clarke, The Pretenders, Whitesnake and Dave Gilmore… to name but a few!

Commenting on Simon’s appearance, The UK Drum Show’s organiser Neil Golding said, “we are thrilled to add Simon to this year’s line-up and the responses from ticket buying visitors  have been most positive.” “We have a variety of artists that should appeal to everyone, along with a an already packed exhibition hall and several other great features for visitors to enjoy,” concludes Golding.
