Firmware Version 2.0 Adds Pocketstudio Features to the Tascam Portacapture Series
Tascam is pleased to announce the latest 2.0 firmware update for the company’s popular Portacapture X8 and Portacapture X6 portable audio recorders. With the ability to record wherever one’s inspiration takes them, the Portacapture recorders make it a snap to capture audio for sound design, record high-quality audio for video production and make multitrack recordings as well as one-take songwriting sessions. And now the V2.0 update introduces yet another cutting-edge feature: the Pocketstudio app.
Features that made Tascam Portastudios so legendary
Designed for musicians, the Pocketstudio app delivers all the familiarity of the traditional Portastudio-style interface. Record and mix down tracks anywhere, anytime. Punch in/out to easily fix mistakes or get a better take. The Overdub feature enables one to play all the instruments by oneself and even record vocal harmonies. And with the mixdown feature, there will never be a shortage of available tracks: Mix all your existing tracks to a two-channel stereo file, import, then continue overdubbing. This capability lets users take four or six tracks and turn them into many, many more. When the time is right, mix the entire production with ease – right from the palm of your hand.
The Pocketstudio app also enables real-time mixdown: Users can bounce their finished song to a stereo WAV file while controlling all the parameters such as volume, pan, EQ, etc., and all those adjustments will be recorded to the final product. Users can fade instruments in and out or create cool EQ effects on any track. The possibilities are limited only by one’s imagination.
Also new with version 2.0: When recording with the Manual or Pocketstudio apps, users can now choose whether or not to record a master mix when recording multitracks, which was previously not possible.
