McIlroy Musical Instruments 25th Anniversary

McIlroy Musical Instruments 25th Anniversary

On the 6th March 2000, Dermot McIlroy and his wife Colleen, began trading as McIlroy Musical Instruments in a small factory unit on the Greystone Road in Antrim, County Antrim, N.I. It was a challenging venture, with no customers, no orders, nor any commitments to order from any music shops anywhere in the world. But yet, their persistence paid off and 25 years later, McIlroy Guitars (as it’s better known) is regarded as one of the world’s most desired acoustic guitar brands.

In that time, McIlroy Guitars have gained a reputation as one of the best acoustic guitars in the world, as many of Irelands top players will accredit. Players such as Luka Bloom, Steve Cooney, Donal Lunny, Jimmy MacCarthy, Declan Sinnot, Dan McCabe and many many others will all wax lyrical about their McIlroy guitar(s).

To celebrate their 25th anniversary and hitting some 1400 guitars, McIlroy have made a limited quantity of custom guitars. The A25-25 is a walnut and cedar body with mahogany neck and solid ebony trim and fretboard.

Three will be made in time for our anniversary and another three in late summer 2025. The A25 is McIlroy’s best-selling model over the past 25 years.
