Cremona Musica 2018 pays homage to Hauser
An exhibition with some of the most representative instruments by the German firm of acoustic guitars, a conference with Hermann and Kathrin Hauser and a live performance by the guitarist Aliosha De Santis are just some of the events organized for Cremona Musica 2018 by the Acoustic Guitar Village, which will also honour the composer Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco, who passed away 50 years ago.
The concert guitar Hermann Hauser Sr. built for Andrés Segovia is now kept at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, in New York. The guitarist himself, in the ‘50s, called it, ‘the best guitar of our times’. For this year’s edition of Cremona Musica (28-30 September, Cremona, Italy), the Acoustic Guitar Village has organised a series of events dedicated to the legendary Hauser dynasty.
During the three days of Cremona Musica an exhibition of historic Hauser guitars will collect some of the most representative instruments of the German brand. The visitors will be able to discover the features and the evolution of these guitars, thanks to a conference, with the participation of Kathrin Hauser and Hermann Hauser III, and a live performance by guitarist Aliosha De Santis, an expert on Hauser’s guitars.
On 28 September Andrea Dieci will hold a masterclass about the music of the Florentine composer, while in the afternoon Dieci will present his new CD, dedicated to Toru Takemitsu, recorded with an instrument by Hermann Hauser Sr.
One of the main events of the programme is the concert “Homage to Castelnuovo-Tedesco”, by the Japanese guitar virtuoso Kazuhito Yamashita, at the auditorium “Le Stanze della Musica”, in the “Ala Ponzone” museum. Yamashita will play in concert two of Castelnuovo-Tedesco’s masterpieces: Quintetto op. 143 and a selection of Caprichos de Goya op.195. Before the concert visitors will be able to see and listen to instruments from Carlo Alberto Carutti’s collection, kept in the museum, curated by the guitar academy “A più corde”.
