Stingray HH pickups

Hi, I’ve just bought a 2006 MM Stingray HH. The pickups look unusual: instead of the two separate lugs for the screws on the upper end, there is a solid bar. Is this unusual? I’ve never seen anything similar in any photo or YouTube.

Hold the fort; I can see replacement pick guards with that shape cut out, so it must be normal. Why the difference? does anyone know the provenance of these pickups?
