RH750 effect/amp loop..

I’ve used TC products for about 10 years. Been playing for over 40 years. Currently use the RH750 and last gig I tried to run my effects through the effect loop on the rear of the unit. This was my 1st time attempting this. Effect chain is : SA Soundblox Multiwave bass distortion (into>) MXR Bass Octave (into> Digitech MultiChhorus. (into>) amp..
While playing, the power amp of the RH750 went silent(no sound from cabs) while the pre-amp stage was still active. The RH750 was able to tune and mute as normal but no sound from main power stage. I changed cables and this happened a 2nd time during the night. It was only corrected by removing the effects from the loop circuit and restarting the amp.
Questions: Can the main stage amp be overdriven by the effects used, creating a signal too hot for the power stage to handle? Are the effects loop designed to us only rack or “studio” type effect units and not “stomp boxes”?
