Off Topic: My Album “Genres of Soul” Wins R&B of the Year

Aloha Folks. Writing to you all from the Big Island of Hawaii. Yes the same island with the all the volcano eruptions. The biggest misconception is that the whole island is affected and in immediate danger but that is from the truth. Actually about less the 1/3 of 1/4 of the island has active lava flows. With that said I wanna say myself and my Ohana (family) are alright as we are clear across the island, two huge mountains and about 2 and a half hours drive away. So amongst all that stuff happening in my state like floods on the island of Kauai, volcanic eruptions and so on I was blessed to get a final ballot nomination for a Na Hoku Hanohano Award for R&B album of the year. This award called Na Hoku for short is an annually held award show that is a precursor and an affiliate to the Grammys that is also referred to by many as the Hawaiian Grammy Awards. There’s probably over a 1000 member members in the Hawaii Academy of Recording Arts aka HARA and each year the top artists or bands in each category file in and enter their projects in their designated genres or categories just like the Grammys and voting happens for a preliminary ballot and then a final ballot. When the dust had cleared and a grueling 5hr Awards program I came home with the R&B album of the year award for my latest release Genres of Soul Available everywhere online. I’ve worked on various Grammy and Na Hoku Hanohano Awards Nominated and Winning Albums or Projects but never my own project. I stayed away from Awards shows and Recording Arts Academies for awhile simply because I never had the greatest of representation or people around me giving me proper advice but thank goodness my publisher Bobby Pileggi of Robert Sterling Music Publishing New York stepped in and helped me out. On the album Genres of Soul I can honestly say that at least 95% of the album was done with either a EBMM or SBMM guitars with the EBMM Majesty taking on a lot of the lead work and the SBMM Ray 35 doing all of the Bass Guitar work and of course EB strings.I did 9s Cobalts on all my guitars and 10s on my Semi-Hollows for one song. The Semi-Hollows used was a Ibanez JSM10 John Scofield Signature and a DAngelico EXDC. Anyways I am not sure if I had posted that I was final nominee for the Awards in here but I wanted to let you all know that I am EBMM artist had brought home that award. While at the Awards I also met with the Grammy Committee seattle chapter and hopefully we can try to at least get in the ballot for the next Grammy awards. A lot of work and a long shot for sure but it is worth a shot. Mahalo for your time – RJ Kaneao
