NYNGD: New Year's New Guitar Days! NYNGD #2018-11

.
Welcome to Day 11 of my annual New Year’s New Guitar Days (NYNGD)!

Thanks for the kind words and comments on Thursday’s NYNGD #2018-10!

OK… Don’t say I didn’t warn you. We’re ramping things up now in a big way. The first guitar on the homestretch is this stunning Edward Van Halen signature model in Translucent Pink Quilt. It is in utterly mint condition, which is astounding since it’s been 25 years since it was manufactured on 12/17/1993. The guitar has no fading, no dings, no rust, no scratches. Wow. The ONLY thing that keeps this from being perfection is that the bottom strap button has some corrosion and the underside of the trem arm (the part between the bar and the guitar’s top) seems to have a little pitting (someone didn’t wipe it down after a sweaty gig… one time).

And in 25 years this guitar has just aged amazingly. The sound and feel are indescribable. I am convinced the wood petrifies or hardens or… ages… and gets more resonant and more amazing year after year. And the workmanship on this guitar is as perfect as a guitar made today at EBMM.

I found this guitar on Reverb and jumped on it. I got a fair deal and was off to the races!

Now, some of you know, I debuted another Pink Quilt EVH in 2016. So WTF, why get another one Jeff? Ummm, really? Do you need to ask? GAS…..

I’ll be back tomorrow-ish with another NYNGD: New Year’s New Guitar Day! Thanks for looking everyone!

(The back story in case you’re new to my NYNGD: For the past couple of years I’ve done a fun thing that most of you I think enjoyed, and I thought I would do it again this year. Every year, I am a slacker about keeping my Guitar Gallery up to date… So, as a fun holiday thing, let’s launch a guitar in the Guitar Gallery each day leading up to New Years Eve! In the past I’ve received PM’s about my collection and whether I play all of these guitars. 🙂 The same question came up during my NYNGD posts a few years ago and my answer was pretty detailed and well thought-out, so please check it out here!)

(Also, in case anybody gets any funny ideas — these guitars are not at my house. They are all in my very secure and alarmed studio facility. I usually only have two guitars floating around the house…)
