Watch the moment Nita Strauss gets engaged at her album release show

Nita Strauss got a pleasant surprise during her album release show in Los Angeles last week, when her long-term boyfriend Josh Villalta got down on one knee on stage and popped the question.
Strauss was playing at legendary Sunset Strip venue Whisky A Go Go on July 7 to celebrate the release of her new album, The Call Of The Void, the night before it was due to drop.

In the middle of the performance, Villalta, who is also her drummer, paused the set to propose to her, describing her as his “best friend” and his “rock”, to which Strauss said an enthusiastic “Yes!”
Strauss then shared a video of the moment on her Instagram alongside the caption: “Forever yes! I can’t wait to be your wife.”

Villalta then recounted the moment in his own message on Instagram. “Last night was so amazing on so many levels. 2 years of intense work that tested me, our relationship, my passion, and sanity all at once… The Call [Of The] Void is finally out,” he began. “I think we played our best show ever last night to a slam-packed Whiskey A Go Go. Our band and crew kicked ass last night!

“I moved to LA 18 years ago… 12 years ago I was introduced to Nita in the driveway of the Rainbow Bar & Grill by [Artist & Influencer Marketing Manager] Mike Taft… Fast forward eight and a half years of us being together and what a better way to top off this night.

“After our set, I asked my best friend to marry me onstage … Our album release party turned into our engagement party. My mom flew in, and Nita’s parents and sister were there to witness. Thank you all that were there to share this special moment with us.”

The Call Of The Void is out now and features a combination of instrumental tracks and collaborations with a slew of artists including Disturbed’s David Draiman, Arch Enemy’s Alissa White-Gluz, Halestorm’s Lzzy Hale, Motionless In White’s Chris Motionless, Dorothy, In Flames’ Anders Fridén, Lilith Czar, Marty Friedman and Alice Cooper.
Earlier this month, Nita Strauss recalled working with former Megadeth man Marty Friedman on the album’s final track, Surfacing. She called him a “perfectionist”, adding: “It’s not every day that you have an opportunity to have feedback and critique from somebody you respect so much.”
Strauss will be rejoining Alice Cooper’s band for an extensive tour of the US later this summer.
