Watch The Edge play rock ‘n’ roll Santa and gift a 10-year-old superfan a guitar
The season of giving is here, and over the weekend U2 guitarist The Edge got into the spirit of things when he appeared on RTÉ’s The Late Late Toy Show to gift a fan a signed guitar.
10-year old musician Noah Rafferty, who shared his dream to be “the world’s greatest rockstar” was given a chance to appear on the show for a cover of In The Air Tonight and a performance of his own song Rock Is The Best Medicine. To cap that all off, however, he was treated to a video message from The Edge – calmly explaining to Noah that he was being gifted a signed Les Paul, as Noah struggled to contain his excitement.
You can take a look at the clip below.
The Late Late Toy Show, aside from fulfilling the dreams of Noah and many other kids, also raised over €5 million (and counting) for children and families in need. The guitar was also created by the Edge in aid of the charity Music Rising, which seeks to provide musical instruments in the wake of disasters – having initially been started in response to the effects of hurricane Katrina on the music community in the Gulf South region of the US. You can find out more about Music Rising here.
