Watch Nita Strauss receive a lick from Alice Cooper’s massive boa constrictor

Nita Strauss shared a close encounter with Alice Cooper‘s boa constrictor during a recent live show.
In a video shared to her Instagram, the snake can be seen licking the guitarist’s face as she continues to play, seemingly unfazed by the interaction. Aptly, the incident happened as the band played through Alice Cooper’s 1991 hit Snakebite.

Cooper can be seen with the snake around his neck before walking towards Strauss, where the boa leans in to lick her on the nose. Strauss continues playing without missing a note, but mouths something at the crowd while pointing to her face. Her Instagram caption reads: “It licked me!”

Naturally, those in the comments are impressed at Strauss’s composure, with one writing: “You continued to play without making a displeased face for even a moment… You are the best professional!”
Strauss has been absent from recent Alice Cooper shows due to scheduling conflicts with her own solo shows. Strauss has also recently toured with Demi Lovato, and has long enjoyed a successful solo career that, in 2018, led to her being the first female signature artist with Ibanez. As she returned to live duties with Alice Cooper on March 22, her first memorable moment is sure to be the affection from Cooper’s snake.
There are numerous snakes involved in an Alice Cooper show, rotated based on their feeding times. It’s difficult to tell exactly which slithery friend was responsible for the affectionate display, but some of Cooper’s limbless pals over the years have been Lady Macbeth, Count Strangula, Julius Squeezer, and Yvonne, per Guitar World.
Julius Squeezer died after being bitten by a rat that was meant to be his own meal, while Yvonne once escaped down the toilet in a hotel in Knoxville, Tennessee. She reappeared, bizarrely in the bathroom of country star Charley Pride, who first big song was Snakes Crawl at Midnight.
“I put her in the bathtub overnight as she loved to swim, but in the morning she had gone down the toilet,” Alice remembered [per MOJO]. “She eventually emerged two weeks later in a different bathroom, having survived on sewer rats in the plumbing.”
