Watch Neil Young discuss the benefits of HD audio
Neil Young recently sat down with Amazon to talk about music fidelity. You can watch the short video above.
In the video, promoting the Amazon Music HD streaming service, Young says he has been “rooting for this to happen for thirty years.” He goes on to note the importance of any subtle ambience present in recordings, such as the feel of the room drums are recorded in – an ambience that might be lost with lower quality audio.
Amazon’s HD music streaming service, Young says, will bring in a “resurgence of quality.” Amazon Music HD is looking to offer up to lossless 3730kbps audio, compared with most streaming services’ lossy 96kbps, 160kbps, or even 320kbps
Young also recently spoke about the possibility of a Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young reunion, saying that he “won’t close the door on anything” – but he also noted that it’s not a decision he can ultimately make just by himself.
