Watch Mammoth WVH’s first TV appearance and hear their new single, You’re To Blame
Wolfgang Van Halen’s solo band, Mammoth WVH, have released their second single, entitled You’re To Blame. The release shortly follows the band’s live debut on Jimmy Kimmel’s show last night (11 February).
The song was teased last week, and its release follows that of the tracklist for the band’s upcoming self-titled debut LP. The album is set to arrive on 11 June 2021.
The band made their debut back in November of 2020 with the track Distance, a tribute to Wolfgang’s father Eddie Van Halen, who died the previous month. The band also chose Distance as their live debut for their first TV appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live. You can watch a video of the performance below:
Earlier this year, Wolfgang expressed his surprise at the overwhelmingly positive response the song received upon its response, explaining that it was something he “wasn’t expecting.”
“It was just kind of a thing for me to put out there and be, like, ‘Hey, this is for dad.’,” he explained. “But to see not only such a huge amount of people get closure for my father’s life, in a way, but to have so many people relate to it in general with a loss of their own, because this year has just been so awful.
“I tend to write my lyrics from a perspective where it’s, like, I may be drawing from a personal experience, but I like to write it in a way where somebody can derive their own meaning from it,” he added. “And it was nice to see that happen to a certain extent, because I think anybody can relate to a monumental loss in their life.”
