Watch: Eric Clapton makes surprise appearance alongside Jerry Douglas for tribute performance to Jeff Beck
Eric Clapton made a surprise live guest appearance alongside Jerry Douglas in London earlier this month to perform a tribute to the late Jeff Beck.

Beck sadly passed away last month (January) aged 78, and his loss has given time for many guitarists, from world famous rockers to small town jammers, to reflect on the legacy he leaves behind in the music industry and pay tribute.
At a live show on 11 February at the Royal Festival Hall in London, Clapton played his Martin acoustic guitar for an instrumental of The Beatles’ While My Guitar Gently Weeps of the iconic White Album of 1968, as Douglas dazzled with his lap steel.
He then introduced a personal tribute to who he referred to as “my friend Jeff” with a rendition of traditional folk song Sam Hall.

Beck replaced Clapton as the Yardbirds’ lead guitarist in 1965, where he remained for 20 months. In that short time, the band recorded most of their biggest hits, including Heart Full Of Soul and Evil Hearted You.
