We recently caught up with Barrie Cadogan at Gibson’s London HQ, where he put a ’59 Gibson Les Paul through its paces and shared his perspectives on the iconic model.
The accomplished guitarist – who’s played with the likes of Primal Scream, Little Barrie and The The – discussed the backstory of the six-string in his hand. While admiring the axe’s limited wear, he marvelled at the beauty of vintage guitars and the lifetime’s worth of music stored up in them.
Cadogan also touched on the guitar’s ability to inspire. “When you hear those sounds, [you realise] it’s a really musical guitar. It’s more than just sort of a loud hard rock guitar. There are loads of nuances to it, and loads you can get out of it,” he explained.
