UA’s vintage amp emulator pedals are now available as plugins

Back in 2022, Universal Audio knocked it out the park with the release of its UAFX Amp Emulators. Inspired by vintage Fender, Marshall and Vox amps, the trio of pedals made it quick and easy to tap into classic guitar tones. But now UA has made it even easier – two of the pedals have been transformed into plug-ins.
Alongside news of the company’s second generation Apollo X, UA has revealed that its Ruby ’63, Dream ’65 emulator pedals are now available to download as versatile plug-ins. A third offering will be a brand new amp emulator: the Lion ‘68 Super Lead Amp. Now anyone can access UA’s award-winning UAFX tones without worrying about hoarding more hardware.

The emulator plug-ins each offer their own distinctive sonic nostalgia. The Rude ‘63 Top Boost Amplifier plug-in emulates the sound of “the British Invasion”, capturing the sound of a vintage British valve amp.
The plug-in also comes with three different variations on its tone, with Normal, Brilliant and Vibrato settings, as well as boost emulations such as the ’60s Dallas Rangemaster treble booster and the preamp of a Maestro EP-3 tape delay.

If you’re eager for some bold reverb, the Dream ‘65 Reverb Amplifier is sure to deliver. The plug-in emulates classic American amp sounds, delivering an array of tones from thick vibrato to sharp tube-driven spring reverb. The plug-in also comes with custom mods emulating the sounds of artists like Stevie Ray Vaughan and Steve Lukather.

While the Woodrow ’55 pedal hasn’t been transformed into a plugin, the Lion ‘68 Super Lead Amp is an impressive new offering from UA. The plug-in allows plexi tones to be accessed at the push of a button. If you’re chasing that Jimi Hendrix, AC/DC or Led Zeppelin flare, this is the plug-in for you. It also comes with three setups, offering Super Lead, Super Bass, and “Brown” Van Halen-esque settings. Users can also toy with Maestro EP-3 and Boss GE-10 EQ emulations too.

All plug-ins also offer a range of mix and speaker pairings, to emulate different room dynamics and sounds. The trio of emulators also all come with presets that range from rock, pop, country, funk and more.
Each plug-in can be tried for free for 14 days. If you like what you hear, the Ruby ’63, Dream ’65, Lion ’68 plug-ins are currently available for £149.
