Two new pedals from Darkglass
October sees two new bass pedals from the highly regarded Darkglass stable, the Microtubes X and the Microtubes X7.
The distributor, Audio Distribution Group, says that with the new Microtubes X and Microtubes X7 multiband pedals, the audio is split by two variable low-pass and high-pass filters at the very start of the signal chain. The high-pass signal (mostly the mid and treble tones) is distorted using CMOS circuitry, as it is with the other Microtubes pedal circuits. While the low pass-signal (all bass) is passed through. This lets the high frequencies be all crunch, attack and full of rich harmonics, while mixing back in the undistorted lows to add gargantuan size to the overall mix.
‘The result is virtually unlimited fullness, size, aggression and definition, regardless of how old the strings are or even if the instrument is just boomy or thin sounding,’ ADG adds.
Both pedals utilise the same new circuitry, while the Microtubes X7 adds a variable compressor on the low section, plus a 4-band graphic equaliser with perfectly tailored mid controls for maximum flexibility, with unbalanced parallel, affected and XLR direct outputs
The Microtubes X Multiband Bass Drive Pedal has a UK SRP of £199 while the Multiband Bass Drive/EQ/DI Pedal will sell for SRP £289.
