Thundercat releases hilarious video for Dragonball Durag
Thundercat has released the song Dragonball Durag, along with a comedic music video for the single. The song is taken from his upcoming record It Is What It Is, to be released on 3 April.
The video, directed by comedian Zack Fox, shows Thundercat demonstrating that even if you are an acclaimed funk and soul bassist who’s worked on some of the most influential albums of the 21st century (including Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp a Butterfly), and played bass in legendary crossover thrash band Suicidal Tendencies, a Dragonball Z-themed durag might not be the best way to woo anyone. The video has several guest stars, including comedian Quinta Brunson and singer Kali Uchis, and Haim. All of whom Thundercat is unsuccessful in seducing.
Thundercat said of the video and song’s release: “The durag is a superpower, to turn your swag on… it does something, it changes you. If you have one in the wardrobe, think about wearing it tonight, and it may pop off because you never know what’s going to happen.”
