“This guitar is a significant piece of rock history”: Here’s your chance to buy one of Yngwie Malmsteen’s vintage Fender Strats – and have a Ferrari thrown in for good measure
If you’re looking for a new guitar, and have absolutely no regard for budget whatsover, you just might be in luck; Yngwie Malmsteen‘s legendary white #4 Fender Stratocaster is up for grabs.
Now, this isn’t your ordinary listing. While this famous instrument comes with a hefty price tag – $175,000 (£133,266) – there’s also a bizarre twist in the sale: the buyer also takes home Malmsteen’s own 1983 Ferrari 308 GTS Quattrovalvole.

So, what’s going on here? Well, Malmsteen’s guitar is being sold by Walt Grace Vintage via Reverb, and here’s all we know about the beloved Strat and the classic car.
The white vintage Fender features an alder body and a scalloped maple fretboard with 21 super jumbo frets, as reported by Guitar World. Moreover, the guitar comes with a 6-Saddle American Vintage synchronized tremolo bridge and Malmsteen’s own Seymour Duncan YJM Fury STK-S10B pickups.
“This guitar is a significant piece of rock history, directly connected to one of the greatest guitarists of all time,” a representative of Walt Grace Vintage tells Guitar World.
“It’s known for shaping his unmistakable neoclassical sound, has seen stages around the world and holds the magic of Malmsteen’s fast-paced, virtuosic playing.”
As for the Ferrari, things get even more interesting. If repping Malmsteen’s very own custom Strat wouldn’t be cool enough, his Ferrari has quite the backstory too.
The musician’s European Rosso Corsa Ferrari has been featured in a handful of Hollywood films including Magnum P.I., National Lampoon’s Vacation, and Beverly Hills Cop.

Yngwie Malmsteen explained his love of the Fender Strat in a recent interview with Guitar World: “Leo Fender was the Thomas Edison of guitars. He didn’t even know how to play an E chord; he wasn’t a guitar player, but the contoured body and the horn that goes higher on one side than the other – it’s all about weight distribution. You put it on your knee, and it won’t fall back or fall forward; it’s perfect. It just feels perfect,” he said.
