“These cater to any style of playing”: Fender unveils uber-affordable Champion II amp range
Hot on the heels of the launch of the American Ultra II series – dubbed the “sports car” of the Fender lineup – Fender is continuing its fine form with the unveiling of the rebooted Champion II range of amplifiers.
The new line builds upon the Champion range, which was launched over a decade ago to pay homage to the original Champion 800, which arrived all the way back in the late 1940s.

The versatility of the original Champion range proved popular thanks to its onboard effects, and multiple amp voices.
Now, the Big F has expanded on those much-loved features with a trio of amps making up the Champion II range: the Champion II 25, Champion II 50, and Champion II 100, boasting 25W, 50W and 100W of output, respectively.
Specs on each of the three amps include a host of onboard effects – including reverb, delay/echo, chorus, tremolo and Vibratone – each of which can be adjusted using the universal FX knob.
There’s also a Voice parameter which switches between Classic, Modern British and Hi Gain amp modes, and TAP button for matching delay times and tremolo speeds to song tempos.
Elsewhere, each amp offers a selection of EQ controls – with Gain, Treble, Bass and Modify pots for adjusting tone – as well as a USB port, headphone output and auxiliary input jack.

The Champion II 25 features just one channel, while the Champion II 50 and Champion II 100 boast two channels. As expected, the number of controls rises with the Champion II 100; its Channel 1 features Volume, Treble, Bass, Modify, FX Select and TAP controls, while the Champion II 50’s Channel 1 only features a volume control.
“The Champion II amps are all about versatility and cater to any style of playing, whether it’s rock, country, blues and even metal,” Fender says. “These amps deliver Fender clean and overdrive tones, as well as incredible British and high gain amp models. No menus, no apps, just a familiar and intuitive interface that makes dialling in tones easy.”
All three amps have a truly entry-level price point; the Champion II 25, 50 and 100 are priced at £149, £239 and £349, respectively.
