“The question for me is how I fit into the equation”: Myles Kennedy gives update on whether he’ll be singing on Slash’s next solo album

Myles Kennedy has confirmed that he’s been “working on some ideas” with Slash for a new record, though he’s not so sure how he’s going to make time to fit into recording among his busy schedule.
Slash released his last album, Orgy Of The Damned, last May. The record explored the blues genre, and featured several guest artists including Demi Lovato, Billy Gibbons, Beth Hart and more. Kennedy and The Conspirators last worked with Slash on the 2022 album 4.

Slash has already said that work on his next record is due to commence any time now, and when asked what Kennedy can tell people about it so far by Guitar Interactive Magazine, he replies, “It’s official – we’re making a polka record! Haha, no, seriously, we’ve been working on some ideas while we were touring earlier this year, and I’m really excited about them.
He goes on to add, “The question for me is how I fit into the equation with my schedule, but they’ve decided to record the instruments in November, and I’ll come back around to finish the vocals when I can. I’m getting ready to tour, so it’s just about finding time, but with technology, I can stay updated. Slash will send me a text with an update so I can keep working on my parts.”

Kennedy released his first signature model with PRS Guitars last year. Also in the interview, he shares his experience of working with the guitar on his latest solo record The Art Of Letting Go, which landed last October.
“Yeah, what you hear on this record is the PRS signature guitar – that’s it,” he says. “It worked really well, and it inspired me to write this record. There’s something about the sound and the attack of the guitar with narrow-field pickups and the swamp ash body. It worked really well in the studio environment. I plugged the signature guitar straight into my PRS Paul amp instead of using my Herbert or my VH4.
“PRS turned me onto this amp a few years ago. It’s got more of a British sound, paired with that German thing the Diezel amps do. I was going to use my Diezel cab, but we couldn’t ship it, so we found a different 2×12 cabinet with Creambacks, and it worked great!”
The Art Of Letting Go is out now. Myles Kennedy is now on tour until February 2025.
