Summer NAMM 2019 Video: Taylor’s new 12-string guitar is a technical marvel
New for Summer NAMM 2019, Taylor has revealed an expanded range of guitars sporting the company’s revolutionary V-Class bracing. Among the highlights of the launch are new 12-string acoustics – this marks the first time the brand has brought the innovative bracing system to 12-string guitars.
The new 12-string guitars come from the company’s 300 and 500 series models, and claim to offer greater pitch accuracy and harmonic agreement between notes thanks to the V-Class bracing. “I feel like I finally get to play a 12-string that’s in tune,” says Taylor master guitar designer Andy Powers.
The new V-Class 12-string models are the Sitka spruce/sapele 352ce and the mahogany/blackwood 362ce. From the higher-end 500 series, the 552ce features a Western red cedar top with mahogany back and sides, while the 562ce is an all-mahogany 12-string.
The guitars all make use of Taylor’s new double-mounted string anchoring system, which allows two strings to be anchored at the bridge under a single pin for improved stability.
