“Sharon looked at me and said ‘Just get used to it’”: why Jake E. Lee hated his guitars on an Ozzy Osbourne album
Former Ozzy Osbourne guitarist Jake E. Lee has opened up about his disdain for the 1983 record Bark at the Moon, claiming he hated the album’s mix but was told by Ozzy’s wife and manager, Sharon, to “just get used to it.”

In a recent interview with Tone-Talk, Lee speaks about the disappointment he felt after hearing the album Bark at the Moon for the first time.
“I remember when I first heard it, when they mixed it,” he says [via Ultimate Guitar]. “And then Ozzy and Sharon asked me over to listen to it, and I listened to it, and he said, ‘What do you think?’ I said, ‘I hate it. Keyboards are loud. Guitars — they’re not driving the songs anymore. They’re too low.’ I said, ‘I hate it.’”
“And then Ozzy said, ‘That’s it! We need to remix it!’ And then Sharon said, ‘No. We’re already way too late giving them the album. We can’t remix it. We have to send this in now.’ And then she looked at me and said, ‘And just get used to it.’”
“So I was like ‘whatever,’” Lee continues. “And then later that night, I realised — not to bring this whole thing up again — I realised if they couldn’t spend another couple extra days to remix, they certainly couldn’t have brought [in] another guitar player, have him re-record all my tracks.”
“So that was a bluff. She was bluffing when she told me that. Later that night, I realised I went, ‘Shit!’ But hey, it is what it is.”

Lee, who was recently shot multiple times while walking his dog in Las Vegas, is now recuperating back home and has offered some details behind his shooting.
“Walking home from our walk Coco and I crossed paths with a couple of thieves,” he said. “Dressed darkly, hoodies pulled down their faces and masks covering their mouths. Standing in a neighbour’s driveway checking out his motorcycle.”
“There was a verbal confrontation which ended with an agreement that I would walk one way and they would walk the opposite. That didn’t work out.”
