Scorpions unveil new single Sign of Hope
Scorpions have unveiled a new song, reportedly directly inspired by coronavirus, entitled Sign of Hope. Take a listen below.
The song packs some serious ballad legwork into a tight two-minute runtime, accompanied by some unifying visuals in its video. The lyrics centre around hope, for example: “In troubled times we need a friend / We keep on waiting for better times / Help me God, here I am / Alone, with all my fears tonight / Give me hope / Just a little bit of hope / A little comfort for my soul / And it’s gonna be alright”
Writing under the video, the band affirmed the positive message: “We are working on lots of hard ‘n’ heavy Rockers for our new album these days… but because of the dramatic Covid-19 pandemic, we want to give you a little ‘Sign of Hope’ that came straight from the heart in troubled times… stay healthy and safe… we love you.”
As they also note, the band currently have a new record in the pipeline, which was confirmed last year, with band member Mathias Jabs saying in an interview: “We’ve been writing some material before we went on tour, before we went on tour this summer. So we have songs – about 10.” It’s not known how impacted this release will be by the pandemic.
