Red Hot Chili Peppers perform from an LA beach for the Olympics closing ceremony
Red Hot Chili Peppers helped close out the Olympics this weekend with a live performance on a beach in LA.
Performing their widely loved hit Can’t Stop from their 2002 album By The Way, the Peppers stood in front of an LA28 backdrop as a nod to the 2028 Olympic Games, which will be held in Los Angeles.

In collaboration with the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics organisers, the Peppers have also launched a special version of the LA 2028 logo featuring the band’s own branding within the A of LA.
“The Red Hot Chili Peppers at our essence, we like to get in a room and make noise. And bring everything that we experience in life into what we do, and LA is definitely one of those dimensions,” says vocalist Anthony Kiedis in a post on Instagram. “There’s still a reason why everyone is fascinated by everything LA.”
LA28 states, “It wouldn’t be LA without the Chili Peppers. LA28 is excited to have collaborated with the Red Hot Chili Peppers to drop an LA28 ‘A’ emblem that is an ode to the dynamic culture of the city and the people who make it whole.”

Back during the 2024 Paris Olympics opening ceremony, metal band Gojira put on a stunning show, with frontman Joe Duplantier showing off one very fine axe. Duplantier has been a Charvel signature artist for some time, but the instrument he was playing during the show was instead an offset Jazzmaster-style guitar that seemed to have been made by ESP. Interestingly, the brand also shared a photo of the shiny gunmetal-coloured guitar to its Instagram story.
You can watch the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ performance via the BBC.
