Musicman releases a brand-new guitar: the Mariposa

Music Man’s Mariposa is now available in the US. The guitar, designed in collaboration with Mars Volta and At the Drive-In composer/guitarist Omar Rodríguez-López, is set to launch internationally in November.
The guitar’s okume body is a unique offset shape, and the ebony fingerboard features pearlescent block inlays. Adding to the eye-catching visuals is an ornate pickguard, laser-etched with an intricate floral design. The bridge is Music Man’s own tremolo system, with a chevron cover.
Electronics-wise, the Mariposa features a three-way pickup selector, and two custom-wound EBMM humbuckers, each with its own volume pot. Despite the lack of tone controls, the Mariposa features what Music Man calls “tethered tone control” – due to the nature of the electronics, there is a variation in the signal’s high-end when the volume pots are set at different levels.
The guitar’s two versions (the Standard and Deluxe) come in four finishes in total, the Standard coming in either Pueblo Pink or Dorado Green with chrome hardware, while the Deluxe comes in either Imperial White or Imperial Black, with gold hardware.
Take a look at the available finishes below:
