Miley Cyrus’ cover of Nothing Else Matters will feature Elton John on piano

Miley Cyrus has revealed more details on her upcoming Metallica covers record, which she hinted at last year, including some of the all-star lineup set to guest on the record.
Speaking to the UK radio show Capital Breakfast With Roman Kemp, Miley said: “I did a Metallica cover of Nothing Else Matters featuring Elton John on piano. I’ve got [cellist] Yo-Yo Ma, [Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer] Chad Smith, just so many all-stars. I’m so excited about this collaboration.”
Cyrus also noted that guitarist and producer Andrew Watt, who worked on her last album Plastic Hearts, is once again helming production, and she spoke highly of his ability to bring together seemingly disparate musical elements: “I mean having Elton John and Metallica and me, I love it when ingredients don’t quite fit.”
Cyrus revealed that she was working on a whole album of Metallica covers in October of last year, during a conversation with Rick Owens about her diverse set of influences, including David Bowie, Motörhead and Iggy Pop. During the same conversation, she noted that her collaboration with Wayne Coyne, frontman of The Flaming Lips, “changed everything” for her.
The release date and name of the Metallica covers record are yet to be revealed. It will follow her studio LP Plastic Hearts, which saw her learn more into the rock aspect of her sound, and featured appearances from Joan Jett and Billy Idol.
