Metallica upload “dusty old VHS tape” of 1991 Black Album Tour performance
The latest Metallica Mondays stream is online – and it’s a blast from the past.
Compared to their first episode of the weekly concert stream, or the recent upload of a performance from 2015, the latest episode delves into a far earlier era of Metallica. Filmed during the Black Album Tour, in Muskegon, Michigan on 1 November 1991, the show features classics such as For Whom the Bell Tolls, Enter Sandman and Whiplash. Take a look above.
The performance also features Jason Newsted on bass guitar, who had joined the band in 1986 after Cliff Burton’s death that same year.
Metallica Mondays is one of many live-streamed series started in response to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, keeping the live music experience going for fans across the world in the wake of the concert industry’s hiatus.
Metallica also recently announced that their All Within My hands foundation will donate $350,000 to coronavirus relief efforts, writing on their website: “In the wake of the spread of the Coronavirus, the most vulnerable people in our communities need help now more than ever. All Within My Hands is reaching out with four grants totaling $350,000 to organizations dedicated to assisting those hit hard by the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic.”
