Maybach Guitars pulls out of NAMM due to LA wildfires: “We believe it is not the right time to gather for an event of this nature”

Maybach Guitars has dropped out of this month’s NAMM show as wildfires continue to rage across Los Angeles.
In a statement shared to social media, the company has shared solidarity and support to those who have suffered loss due to the ongoing tragedy, and confirmed that it does not feel it’s “the right time to gather for an event of this nature when so many are facing hardship.”

Since the fires began on 7 January, 25 people are believed to have lost their lives, and many homes have been completely destroyed. NAMM, which is held in Anaheim, California, has already put out a statement confirming that as of now, this year’s event will go ahead as planned, though it will continue to monitor developments.
In its statement, Maybach Guitars says, “After careful consideration, we at Maybach Guitars have decided not to attend the NAMM Show this year. This was not an easy decision, as NAMM has always been an incredible opportunity to connect with our community, showcase our instruments, and celebrate the music industry.
“However, the devastating wildfires currently raging across California have created a situation that demands responsibility and sensitivity. While Anaheim is not directly affected at this time, the broader impact of these fires-on the environment, local communities, and public safety is deeply concerning. We believe it is not the right time to gather for an event of this nature when so many are facing hardship. The safety of our team, partners, and the global community is our highest priority.”
It goes on to say, “We also feel it is essential to show solidarity with those who are suffering as a result of these fires. Many people have lost their homes, and shelters are in desperate need of space and resources for those displaced by the fires. Instead, we will find other ways to stay connected with you all and share our passion for music and craftsmanship in the coming months.”

In an updated post on its website, NAMM has confirmed that it is in direct contact with its partners at Visit Anaheim regarding hotel availability for evacuees. Currently, Anaheim has more than 35 hotels available to those currently displaced, with under 300 evacuees housed at present.
“We have confirmed with officials that there is ample additional hotel room capacity available for those who are displaced,” it says. “The 2025 NAMM Show will be able to take place as planned from January 21-25 in Anaheim. This global gathering of the music products industry is about unity, and this year, we unite to support our members impacted by these devastating wildfires.
“The NAMM Foundation has committed $50,000 to our LA Wildfires Relief Fund and is accepting additional contributions. This fund will provide needs-based assistance to NAMM members, employees of NAMM member companies, music education programs, and music makers impacted by the fires. We will be promoting this fund throughout The NAMM Show.”
