Martin celebrates Earth Day 2025 with Biosphere acoustic guitar decorated with stunning polar bear artwork
Martin is celebrating Earth Day 2025 with a new limited-edition Biosphere guitar with artwork designed by longtime collaborator and artist Robert Goetzl.
The D Biosphere III – which pays tribute to the Arctic – is built using responsibly sourced, FSC-certified woods: a Sitka spruce top and sapele back and sides and European flamed maple binding. Its body artwork features a polar bear mother and her cub underneath a sunset in the Arctic sea.

“It’s about the connection between mother and child, and the question of whether that cub will have a future,” Robert Goetzl explains.
The guitar also sees Martin partner with Polar Bears International, a nonprofit dedicated to the conservation of polar bears and the Arctic sea ice they depend on. Martin has made a donation to this cause to celebrate the guitar’s launch.

Elsewhere, the D Biosphere III features subtle sapele dot inlays on its ebony fingerboard, alongside a dovetail neck joint and satin finish.
In addition to the release of the D Biosphere III, Martin has released its annual Impact Report, which outlines the progress it is making towards its environmental, community, and philanthropic goals. So far it has awarded 93 grants through the Martin Guitar Charitable Foundation, totalling more than $500,000, donated more than $32,000 worth of instruments to support music education and environmental causes, and has ongoing reforestation initiatives across Central America and Pennsylvania.
The impact report also details the more than 60 tons of recycled material across Martin facilities, and the introduction of the first Inception guitar, crafted with sustainable and domestically abundant tonewoods.
“This annual report reflects Martin’s long-standing dedication to creating positive change, both within the music industry and beyond,” Martin explains.
