Marshall launches two amp lines offering modern tweaks on the 1959, JCM800 and JCM900

NAMM 2025: As part of a trio of new launches, Marshall has unveiled two brand new amp ranges – the Modified Series and the Studio 900 series – both of which recreate some of its historically iconic amps.
Marshall’s return to NAMM this year marks the end of a five year period of absence from the show. For this year’s event, it has also launched a range of overdrive pedals, which similarly recreate its classic amps, but within condensed, pedalboard-friendly units.

The Modified Series features the JCM800 Modified and 1959 Modified, introducing factory-modified versions of the two famous amplifiers for the first time ever, crafted at Marshall’s Milton Keynes, UK factory. The Studio 900 series includes the Studio 900 Head and Studio 900 Combo, bringing its legendary JCM900 sound into a smaller design. Let’s delve a little further into each series…
Modified Series
This series reimagines Marshall’s JCM800 and 1959 models with modern enhancements. Marshall says its modifications have always been about achieving “more”, whether that be more distortion, sustain, or just a bigger sound.
The 1959 Modified amplifier is designed to provide overdrive at manageable volumes, while the JCM800 Modified delivers heavier distortion with a tighter sound suited to rock and metal. Both amps retain their original dynamics, but offer expanded capabilities that bring them in line with today’s musicians. The 1959 Modified hosts a new master volume control, a switchable bright cap, and two overdrive modes, while the JCM800 Modified now offers a gain boost, mid boost, and tight switch.
The 1959 Modified is priced at £2,999.99, with the JCM800 Modified at £2,699.99. Pre-orders are open now, with official sales beginning in Q3 (July).

Studio 900 Series
Originally released in the ‘90s, the JCM900 became widely loved across genres such as indie, rock, punk, and metal, and was used by artists such as Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day, John 5, and Noel Gallagher.
Marshall claims that the Studio 900 delivers the same legendary tone in a compact, gig-friendly form, including features such as switchable channels, real spring reverb, and power attenuation with three levels. This one is made for home studios, smaller venues, or situations where precise volume control and adaptability are needed.
The Studio 900 head is priced at £1,099.99, with the Studio 900 Combo at £1,199.99. Both are available to buy now.
