LR Baggs’ Voiceprint DI now supports Apple Watch control
LR Baggs’ Voiceprint DI (introduced as Soundscape at NAMM 2020) now supports control via a new Apple Watch application.
The pedal-sized amplifier initially interfaced with a smartphone to measure the acoustic response of your guitar and create what LR Baggs calls a “Voiceprint.” This is then used in a similar way to a speaker cabinet IR to create a more authentically ‘acoustic’ tone with your pickup’s signal. In short, it aims to retain the true voice of your guitar even after it has been put through a pickup, mixing desk, and speakers.
That connection has now been expanded to work with the Apple Watch, and LR Baggs says this will allow guitarists to “keep their phones in their pockets and avoid bending down to adjust their pedal in order to achieve impeccable tone control.”
The app has all of the same features as the iPhone application, allowing for control over preset volume, anti-feedback blend, Voiceprint blend, pedal bypass, and a fully parametric EQ. You can select between seven bands of EQ and adjust the frequency, level, and Q, all with the Apple Watch Crown on the side of the device.
LR Baggs president Lloyd Baggs said of the introduction: “We are so excited about the recent launch of the Voiceprint® technology and want to continue to improve upon what we believe is a revolutionary product,” shares Lloyd Baggs, President. “Our goal is to make performing with great tone as easy as possible for players; with the integration of the Apple Watch I believe that’s a great step toward doing that.”
