Growin’ Up is a song that first appeared on Springsteen’s 1973 debut album, Greetings from Asbury Park, N.J.
The track is as one of four which Vedder has added to his recently released Matter Of Time “bundle” of songs – recorded throughout 2020. The others include acoustic renditions of Pearl Jam’s Just Breathe, Future Days and Porch, recorded at home. Listen to the songs here.
Vedder shared the bundle’s first two tracks, Matter Of Time and a refreshed version of Say Hi, back in November at Venture Into Cures, a virtual fundraiser.
The event was organised by Vedder and his wife Jill to raise awareness about those suffering from epidermolysis bullosa (EB), a rare skin condition. It was held in support of the EB Research Partnership (EBRP).
Say Hi was a song Vedder originally wrote for a child, Eli Meyer, suffering from EB.
Speaking at the event, Jill said: “Ed and I are incredibly grateful to everyone joining us for Venture Into Cures. Every day kids with EB and their families face astonishing challenges. This event will give people a glimpse into their world.”
“EBRP’s mission is to find a cure for EB, and this event will help bring us one step closer to making that mission a reality by adding momentum to the work being done.”
