Set to hit the market on 14 January, this reissue promises to bring back the powerful tones and versatility that made the original a cult favourite among guitarists.

Originally launched in 1992, the Dual Rectifier quickly became synonymous with heavy music, being embraced by iconic bands such as Alice in Chains, Tool, and Blink-182. The amp was known for its high-gain capabilities and unique tone, and would go on to power some of the most memorable rock and metal tracks of the ’90s.
Mesa/Boogie describes the upcoming Dual Rectifier as a “faithful recreation” of the original model, with “some welcome upgrades like improved cleans that enhance but don’t distract”.
“The iconic 90s-era two-channel ‘90s Dual Rectifier is here!” the brand writes. “Faithfully recreated with modern upgrades, this amp defined ‘90s rock – powering metal, nu-metal, rap-rock, grunge, pop-punk and more.”
“Here’s a chance to own an original icon built by the same artisans who built them 30 years ago and have a new amp warranty.”

Reflecting on the Dual Rectifier’s legacy in a new teaser video, Mesa Boogie R&D Director Doug West notes how the original tube amp’s popularity had taken them by surprise: “When we started the Rectifiers, we had no idea of the impact they would make on a generation. It just exploded and it changed everything.”
“There are certain layout tricks that we have that Randy [Mesa Boogie founder and former lead amp designer at Gibson, Randall Smith] has taught us along the way. When we got to the end of this thing, we realised we had a cleaner, meaner, better Rectifier. There’s no denying it,” says Tommy Waugh, product manager for Gibson Amps.
