Iron Maiden rumoured to have a new album on the way
A new Iron Maiden album is rumoured to be on its way.
The band’s longtime producer Kevin ‘Caveman’ Shirley hinted at the possibility of a new collaboration with Iron Maiden in a post on Facebook. He wrote about how he was in Paris “working very hard on an unnamed but not-very-secret project” and that he “finished with a loud ringing in my ears”.
This comes on the heels of additional speculation over new Iron Maiden material being in the works. Blabbermouth reported that frontman Bruce Dickinson hinted at new music during the band’s Nashville show in August, saying that it wasn’t “beyond the bounds of possibility” and that a new record was essentially a “certainty”.
If proven true, the as-yet-untitled album will be Iron Maiden’s 17th studio effort and the sixth to be produced by Shirley, who has also worked with other artists like Joe Bonamassa, Journey, Dream Theater and Led Zeppelin.
Maiden’s last studio album was 2015’s The Book Of Souls, which was also recorded with Shirley. Dickinson was diagnosed with a cancerous tumour at the back of his tongue during the album’s recording, but was able to make a full recovery in time for the LP’s release in September.
