“I’m proud to represent growth, forgiveness, humanity and change”: Code Orange’s Reba Meyers on joining Marilyn Manson’s live band
Code Orange guitarist Reba Meyers has released a statement after she recently joined the live band of disgraced rock musician Marilyn Manson.
Marilyn Manson – real name Brian Hugh Warner – has always been a widely divisive figure. For example, in 1999, news media outlets accused Manson’s songs and lyrics of inspiring the perpetrators of the Columbine High School massacre, which he vehemently denied.

But more recently, Manson’s career was put on the line in 2021 when a string of women came forward accusing him of psychological and sexual abuse. The movement, spearheaded by his former girlfriend Evan Rachel Wood, saw Manson rightly retreat from the spotlight.
But he’s currently back on tour in the US, with a live band consisting of Code Orange guitarist Reba Meyers, guitarist Tyler Bates, former Rob Zombie bassist Piggy D, and drummer Gil Sharone.
And now, Reba Meyers has put out a statement justifying her move to join Manson’s band.
“See me performing with Marilyn Manson now as he returns in awesome renewed form on tour this month and next, and in his new video for Raise the Red Flag,” she writes.
“I’m proud to represent the growth, confidence, forgiveness, humanity, and change that comes with this, and to be up there with such talented motherfuckers. Everyone is aiming for growth and not stagnation. [The] world needs that attitude right now. Thanks to all the new peeps that have been showing love and support my way.”

As you might expect, Meyers’ post has attracted its share of comments sceptical of her decision, with one user writing, “Growth and forgiveness after he has denied the mountain of allegations and taken no responsibility,” and another writing, “Considering what he’s done I find this hard to understand.”
Indeed, Manson might be back as an active artist, but he and his managers are obviously acutely aware of the public’s continued negative public perception of him. Manson’s new video for Raise the Red Flag on YouTube, as well as his social media profiles, have currently have their comments switched off.
It’s to be expected, though; Manson has some very serious allegations against his name.
Such accusations come from Wolf Alice’s Ellie Rowsell, who claims Manson once filmed up her skirt, Ashley Morgan Smithline, who told People in 2021 that Manson repeatedly raped her and locked her away in a soundproof “bad girls’ room”, and Phoebe Bridgers, says Manson told her about his “rape room” when she was a teen.
