“I’m doing two sets of three-minute walks and weight training”: The “endurance training” regimen Ozzy Osbourne is following in prep for Black Sabbath’s final show

Ozzy Osbourne is preparing for his return to the stage at Black Sabbath’s final show this summer with some endurance training.
The original Sabbath lineup – Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward – will reunite for the Back To The Beginning show in their hometown of Birmingham, England on 5 July. The one-day festival will also host performances by Metallica, Pantera, Slayer, Gojira and Anthrax, plus many more. Proceeds from the event will be donated to Cure Parkinson’s, the Birmingham Children’s Hospital and Acorn Children’s Hospice.

Though Osbourne, who has Parkinson’s disease and has undergone several spinal surgeries, has already said that he won’t be doing a full set with the band, he is raring to tackle what he can and what he feels comfortable with. It is also believed that some of the musical guests will step into his role throughout the Sabbath show where he can take a break.
Speaking to Billy Idol guitarist Billy Morrison on SiriusXM, Osbourne says he’s currently preparing with plenty of walks and weight training. He shares (via Metal Hammer): “It’s endurance training. The first thing to go when you’re laid up is your stamina, so believe it or not, I’m doing two sets of three-minute walks and weight training. I’m going and going, you know?”
He adds, “I’m waking up in my body, you know? I mean, three minutes to you, for instance, is nothing, but I’ve been laying on my back recovering from umpteen surgeries.”

Earlier this year, collaborator and producer Andrew Watt also spoke of Osbourne’s final show prep, and referred to him as “the real-life Iron Man”: “He’s starting to get in the gym again a little bit by little, [to] get himself ready for his last concert. He is the real-life Iron Man. And nothing has happened to his voice – his voice is as good as it has ever been,” he told Howard Stern.
Tickets for the Back To The Beginning event are sold out, but you can find out more about the event via the Black Sabbath website.
