IK Multimedia releases TONEX Boutique Overdrives Signature Collection – which “retain the organic feel” of their originals
IK Multimedia has launched Boutique Overdrives, a Signature Collection for its TONEX amp and effects modelling ecosystem. It offers access to four overdrive pedals curated to work over a broad range of styles, including blues, grunge, metal and more.
The collection features 50 Tone Models crafted using IK’s AI Machine Modelling based on a JHS Morning Glory V4, Catalinbread Tribute, Westminster Effects 1689 V2, and the EarthQuaker Devices Life Pedal.

Boutique Overdrives is included with the TONEX Pedal and TONEX ONE for a limited time only, letting users “experience smooth analogue warmth and character” from each model in the studio or on stage. It is also sold separately.
According to a press release, all four pedals were captured using various settings, giving access to a broad spectrum of sounds. The brand says these models retain the organic feel and responsiveness of their original peers, and pair seamlessly with amps and other pedals.
Let’s briefly explore what each one can do:
JHS Morning Glory V4 (15 Tone Models)
This pedal was initially debuted by JHS at Winter NAMM in 2016. For the collection of tone models based on it, multiple settings from the Morning Glory were captured, including its signature low-gain, edge-of-breakup sounds. IK says it is perfect for blues, indie and classic rock tones.
Catalinbread Tribute (10 Tone Models)
This original hosts all-analogue circuitry and was launched back in 2022. Also captured using various settings, this pedal brings boosted cleans to crunchy tones, providing additional low-mid-grunt for fuller chords and leads. “It’s perfect for players seeking a responsive drive to clean up or push the amp,” says IK.
Westminster Effects 1689 V2 (15 Tone Models)
This pedal builds on the classic Ibanez Tube Screamer. Among the settings captured is its built-in clean blend to enhance headroom, yielding cleaner, punchier tones ideal for tightening high-gain tones. The 1689’s symmetrical and asymmetrical clipping modes were also modelled. Users can switch between dynamic, harmonically complex tones in asymmetrical mode and smoother, more balanced distortion in symmetrical mode.
EQD Life Pedal (10 Tone Models)
The EarthQuaker Devices Life Pedal was created in collaboration with the band Sunn O))), and is known for producing vast and powerful tones. Ten distinct settings from the Life Pedal were captured, and it’s described as perfect for doom, stoner rock, and experimental soundscapes.
The Boutique Overdrives Signature Collection is available now to purchase via ToneNET and within any version of TONEX for Mac/PC for $/€69.99. IK is also offering special TONEX pedal/collection bundles. From 3 September through 5 November 2024, new purchases of TONEX ONE will include Boutique Overdrives, while the TONEX Pedal will come with Boutique Overdrives and ODS Legends.
