“I tend to steer clear of people who actively support genocidal and autocratic dictators” David Gilmour says he will “absolutely not” perform with Roger Waters again

It isn’t just discussions about his relationship with Roger Waters we’re seeing the last of, if David Gilmour has his way. The guitarist made it clear he will “absolutely not” perform with his former Pink Floyd bandmate ever again, citing Waters’ controversial political views.
Gilmour’s comment arrives in a recent interview with The Guardian, where he snuffed out any and all lingering hopes of a reunion with the ex-Pink Floyd member.

The musician — who’s currently touring his new album Luck and Strange — was asked if he will ever share a stage with Waters again, to which he states emphatically: “Absolutely not.”
“I tend to steer clear of people who actively support genocidal and autocratic dictators like Putin and Maduro [president of Venezuela],” says Gilmour. “Nothing would make me share a stage with someone who thinks such treatment of women and the LGBT community is okay.”
The pair have shared a turbulent relationship over the decades, though things came to a head last year after Gilmour’s wife, author Polly Samson, slammed Rogers for being “antisemitic to [his] rotten core”. A sentiment that prompted the Gilmour response: “every word demonstrably true.”
And while the guitarist has made it clear he wouldn’t be clamouring for a stage with Waters anytime soon, it’s a whole other story with late Pink Floyd keyboardist Rick Wright
“I’d love to be back on stage with Rick Wright, who was one of the gentlest and most musically gifted people I’ve ever known,” he says.
Elsewhere, Gilmour has maintained that he’s open to the possibility of creating new music with the band, despite having recently achieved his “dream” of ridding himself of Pink Floyd’s catalogue and the “arguments that are involved with keeping it going”.
