“I can’t wait to hear the dreamy things people make with it”: Yvette Young partners with Walrus Audio on new signature pedal, the Qi Etherealizer
NAMM 2025: After unveiling its new end-of-chain practice tool, Canvas Rehearsal, earlier this week, Walrus Audio is keeping the NAMM goods coming with the introduction of the Qi Etherealizer, a stereo multi-effects pedal developed in partnership with Covet guitarist Yvette Young.
Combining Chorus, Delay, Granular effects and Reverb, Qi Etherealizer is described as an “expansive creative playground for musicians seeking inspiration to create sounds and explore lush, evolving soundscapes”.

The pedal enables players to mix and match the onboard effects, running them either in series or in parallel configurations, opening up a world of sonic options.
The Qi Etherealizer features the debut of Walrus Audio’s new proprietary digital processing platform, MDSP, which is said to set “a new standard in high-fidelity audio and innovative design”. This is powered by an ARM-based Cortex M7 processor, which grants “advanced processing capabilities, unmatched performance and limitless creative possibilities”.
In terms of controls, the Qi Etherealizer sports a Space knob, which adds “lush, ambient reverb” to the affected signal; Tone, a synth-style low-pass filter to shape the overall tone; Grain, which grants two modes of grainy effects; a Delay section, with up to two seconds of delay time, feedback control, and three subdivision options; and a comprehensive Chorus section, too.
Elsewhere, the pedal features extended stomp switch controls for Momentary Grain Freeze, Reverb freeze, tap tempo and delay oscillation.
“This was such a joy to work on with you guys!” Young comments on Walrus Audio’s Instagram post. “I can’t wait to hear the dreamy things people make with it. I’ve been writing so much with it personally…”

“I hope that it will inspire people to be excited to have colours and textures to play with,” Young says. “I think this is going to be a wonderful tool for people to create ambient sounds and add interest to their playing! I want people to think about their melodies and how they can start to sound a little less guitar-y and more magical!”
Priced at $449 – and available in two colours, Black or a custom Young-designed version – the Qi Etherealizer is available to pre-order now, and will ship beginning 3 February. Additionally, Yvette Young has signed 100 units and will be selling those on her website “soon”.
