“He’s fighting as hard as he can, and we are with him in that fight”: Duran Duran share Andy Taylor health update
Duran Duran have given an update on guitarist Andy Taylor’s health, as he continues battling stage four metastatic prostate cancer.
The band shared that they are “with him” as he continues to fight the disease during a press conference at the Sanremo Music Festival in Italy on 13 February. Taylor played with Duran Duran in varying stints between 1980 and 2006, and was due to reunite with the band last year as they were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame, though due to his health he had to miss the event.

Of Taylor’s battle, vocalist Simon Le Bon says (via Joe): “It’s very late stage, fourth-stage metastasised cancer. He’s fighting as hard as he can, and we are with him in that fight.”
Of the band dynamic, he also adds, “There is something between us that keeps us together. First of all, we love the music we make together. Nobody else makes music like we do. We’ve all tried to do things on our own, and it just doesn’t seem as exciting as when the four of us get together and work.
“We make each other laugh, and I think that’s very important in a long relationship. When we are under stress, we laugh all the way through it, and it keeps everything light and fun. And the other thing is, we split all the proceeds equally. No one takes all the publishing. We all share the finances equally.”
Taylor played on Duran Duran’s 2023 album, Danse Macabre. It marked their 16th studio album, and featured three new tracks among covers of hits by the likes of Billie Eilish and Talking Heads, plus revived versions of their older material.
Taylor continues to fight, and is currently taking what he has described as a “nuclear drug”, which has helped to extend his life.
Duran Duran are kicking off a tour in June.
