“He’s dying to still get out there and play” Geezer Butler reveals Ozzy Osbourne wants Black Sabbath reunion for his final show

Although Ozzy Osbourne was forced to retire from touring last year due to a litany of health issues, he’s still itching to perform. He revealed earlier this year that he was keen to “say goodbye properly” with two final shows in his native Birmingham and now, Geezer Butler has said that Osbourne wants a mini Black Sabbath reunion to be a part of it.

Black Sabbath’s final show took place in Birmingham in 2017 but drummer Bill Ward was absent. He left the band in 2012 over what he claimed was an “unreasonable contract”.
“Ozzy was talking to me about, when he does his farewell concert – which he still wants to do,” Butler tells Lifeminute. “He’s dying to still get out there and play, and he suggested, at his very final concert, for the four of us to get up onstage and maybe do three or four songs together. And that would be it, finished.”
In May, Osbourne said on his podcast The Madhouse Chronicles that he felt that Black Sabbath are “unfinished”, adding: “If they wanted to do one more gig with Bill, I would jump at the chance. Do you know what would be cool? If we went to a club or somewhere unannounced and we just got up and did it. We started up in a club.”

The original line-up hasn’t performed together for over 20 years. Nonetheless, Butler seems to have changed his tune after saying in July that he didn’t believe a reunion of the original line-up would never happen.
“I always said that the original Black Sabbath would never get back together,” he said. “You say these things hoping if a miracle happens, that it would be great to do it.”
It seems that Ward would be happy to do one last gig too. In July, he wrote on X/Twitter: “Bill Ward checking in regarding all the updates on a possible Sabbath show in England. I’m in for playing some of everyone’s old favourites. Loved playing them then, I’d love to play them one last time.”
