Heritage introduces the H-555, a new top-spec addition to its Custom Shop Core Collection

Heritage Guitars has lifted the lid on the H-555, a new addition to the Michigan company’s Custom Shop Core Collection.
As ever, the new model is built at the brand’s iconic 225 Parsons Street factory, and promises “striking aesthetic updates and refined tonal enhancements”.

It features a semi-hollow Curly Maple body and a set of Custom Shop 225 Hot Classic Humbuckers, which are wound in-house and voiced to deliver a greater sense of punch and richness while remaining touch-sensitive. There’s also a Tune-O-Matic bridge with an aluminum stopbar tailpiece for “enhanced sustain”.
In terms of aesthetics, the guitar also features gold hardware, multi-ply binding on the body, headstock, and pickguard, as well as a neck sculpted in a classic ’50s C-shape profile and adorned with elegant block inlays in a manner that’s both stylish and user friendly.
Available in Ebony and Trans Cherry, the Core Collection H-555 is finished with a nitrocellulose vintage gloss. Heritage Custom Shop is also offering a hand-finished “artisan aged” option. Each guitar is shipped in a premium Heritage Custom Shop hard case.

Indeed, we were very complimentary about Heritage Guitars’ Custom Shop Core Collection H-137, praising its look, feel and bridge pickups but noting it’s high price considering what it might be used for.
“Here’s the argument: if you’re wealthy enough to afford it, you’re not angry enough to want it. Or, to put it another way, who’s going to buy an expensive guitar to play cheap music?” our review read.
“There probably is a nugget of truth to this, at least in terms of the H-137’s appeal to potential buyers who haven’t actually played it yet. But once it’s in your hands, it doesn’t take long to work out that this is by no means a one-dimensional guitar. If you’re looking for something that specialises in rasping rock tones but can bring easy-playing refinement to other styles as well, it’s a mighty persuasive option.”
The Heritage Custom Shop Core Collection H-555 is priced at $4,799, while the Artisan Aged version available at $5,399.
