“He emptied his clip on me. I could only dodge so many bullets”: Jake E Lee offers update on recent shooting
Guitarist Jake E Lee has offered updates on the recent shooting in Las Vegas that left him in the intensive care unit earlier this week.
The 67-year-old – known for his stint as Ozzy Osbourne’s guitarist between 1982 and 1987 – was shot multiple times while walking his dog on Tuesday morning, but is “expected to make a full recovery”.
Updating fans in a new post on his band the Red Dragon Cartel’s Facebook page, Lee says that he is “lucky” to have survived given that the shooter had “emptied his clip” on him.

“I deeply appreciate all the concern and well wishes,” the musician begins. “Makes everything going on a little better. To clarify, I was shot three times. I was on my way back home from walking my dog Coco (I didn’t name him so don’t!). Don’t want to go into details now, I’m tired, but I feel relatively very lucky.”
According to Lee, the police found 15 shell casings at the scene which suggests the shooter “emptied his clip” on him.
“I could only dodge so many so one bullet went through my forearm, one through my foot, and one in the back which broke a rib and damaged a lung,” he says. “Priority now is to keep draining my lung till it’s done crying. Then we can pull that tube out and concentrate on the more minor injuries.”
Lee adds that his dog Coco is “fine and appreciates your inquiries!”.

The musician’s representatives previously stated that the shooting is believed to be “completely random”.
Osbourne has also expressed his “shock” over the incident, telling TMZ: “It’s been 37 years since I’ve seen Jake E. Lee, but that still doesn’t take away from the shock of hearing what happened to him today. It’s just another senseless act of gun violence. I send my thoughts to him and his beautiful daughter, Jade. I just hope he’ll be okay.”
