Guns ‘N’ Roses, Tool and Rival Sons added to Black Sabbath’s grand farewell show
Black Sabbath’s final ever show already looked like one for the history books – but it seems even more metal legends are keen to wave Ozzy Osbourne and the gang off in style. It’s just been announced that Guns ‘N’ Roses, Tool and Rival Sons will also be joining in on the festivities.
The star-studded Back To The Beginning show will take place on 5th July, and will see Black Sabbath’s original lineup – Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward – reuniting for one last performance. It will also boast a line up of Metallica, Pantera, Slayer, Gojira and Anthrax, as well as Alice in Chains, Lamb of God and Mastodon.

Osbourne is set to play a short solo set before joining his Sabbath bandmates, and the occasion will mark the band’s first performance with its original lineup in 20 years. As it stands, the one-fay festival is looking like every metalheads wet dream. Even festival director Tom Morello (yes, that Tom Morello) is predicting that it will be “the greatest heavy metal show ever.”
Alongside the band performances, the concert will also feature a “supergroup”, comprised of a slew of musical stars across the board. The selection spans the world of rock and metal, with the likes of Slash, Fred Durst, Billy Corgan, Wolfgang Van Halen, Lzzy Hale, Jonathan Davis and, of course, Rage Against The Machine’s Tom Morello.
Considering Osbourne has revealed he wont be involved for the entirety of the Sabbath set, it’s suspected that the musical guests will all fill in for him throughout the set.
In a new episode of his SiriusXM Ozzy Speaks show, the Sabbath frontman revealed: “I’m not planning on doing a set with Black Sabbath but I am doing little bits and pieces with them. I am doing what I can, where I feel comfortable” [via Louder.]
The 76-year-old singer’s last full set was back in 2018 at Ozzfest. Nowadays, his wife, Sharon Osbourne, told The Sun that he struggles to walk – but he still has his iconic croon. “Parkinson’s is a progressive disease,” she said. “It’s not something you can stabilise. It affects different parts of the body and it’s affected his legs. But his voice is as good as it’s ever been.”
It’s also just been revealed that the night is set to be hosted by American actor Jason Momoa – because why the hell not.
The entire event will be raising money for Birmingham Children’s Hospital, Acorn Children’s Hospice, and Cure Parkinson’s charities. Speaking to Birmingham Live, Sharon Osbourne revealed that everyone was keen to get involved to celebrate Ozzy’s career and help out some charities.
“Ozzy said, ‘I’m going to do my goodnight gig, my farewell, and would you come up and do Sabbath with me?’,” she said. “He couldn’t do it on his own. They all said yes. When they heard it was for charity, it was easy.”
If you’re keen to cop a ticket, you’re too late. Unsurprisingly, the show reportedly sold out in just 16 minutes, according to The Mirror.
