Gibson expands its Hummingbird range with three “more versatile and expressive” models
Gibson has introduced three new Hummingbird models – the Studio EC, Standard EC, and Standard Rosewood EC.
These new additions to the range are equipped with cutaway bodies for improved access to the upper frets and host L.R. Baggs electronics for “high-quality onstage sound you can rely on night after night”.

The Studio EC continues Gibson’s history of producing square shoulder body designs, but now offers a cutaway mahogany body paired with a Sitka spruce so you can access those upper frets with much more comfort. The neck features a rosewood fretboard with mother-of-pearl parallelogram inlays, a fast-playing Round SlimTaper profile, and has a 16” radius for easy string bending.
It also has TUSQ bridge pins, saddle, and nut, along with Grover Rotomatic tuning machines. Its pickguard features one-colour HummingbirdStudio graphics, and its finished with a satin nitrocellulose coating. An L.R. Baggs Element Bronze active under-saddle piezo pickup also offers studio-quality plug-and-play.
Though most specifications are the same across all three models, the Standard Rosewood EC instead hosts a rosewood body of course, and offers that little bit more bass and harmonic complexity, according to Gibson. All models also come with a protective hardshell case.
The Hummingbird Studio EC is available in a Tri-Burst Satin finish for £2,599, while the Standard Rosewood EC model is priced at £4,099 in Rosewood Burst. The Standard EC comes in Heritage Cherry Sunburst or an exclusive Ebony finish directly from Gibson. These are both £3,399.
