Gibson announces signature ES-339 for Joan Jett
Gibson has released a signature ES-339 model for rock icon Joan Jett. Developed over the last two years with Jett, this stunning limited-edition guitar merges classic ES aesthetics with modern features.
Jett’s new ES-339 features a set of thermally engineered tonewoods – a chambered maple centre block and adirondack spruce bracing – that are new to Gibson ES models. Other tonewoods include AAA figured maple veneers – for the top and back – as well as a quarter-sawn mahogany neck with a rounded C profile. Sitting on top of the neck is a 12-inch-radius dark rosewood fingerboard styled with classy pearloid dot inlays.
In terms of electronics, the guitar is loaded with two humbuckers: a Burstbucker 2 and Burstbucker 3. These pups are shaped by two volume controls, two tone controls, and a three-way pickup selector. The control assembly, hand-wired with Orange Drop capacitors, pairs with both humbuckers for tones that range from “sweet to rude”, according to Gibson.
Rounding out this axe’s features are an ABR-1 bridge with nylon saddles, an aluminium stopbar tailpiece and a stunning Wine Red finish.
Joan Jett’s signature ES-339 is available in a limited run of 150 pieces. The first 50 will be hand-signed by Jett.
