Seminal post-punk outfit Gang Of Four are set to release the Anti Hero EP on 17 July, which will feature the final recordings of guitarist and songwriter Andy Gill, who died this February at 64.
The band have shared the first single from the upcoming EP, a song written by Gill entitled Forever Starts Now, take a listen below.

Proceeds from the EP’s sales will go towards Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS foundation trust, to “recognise, celebrate and support” those who cared for Gill during his hospitalisation.
Both Gill’s surviving spouse, Catherine Mayer, and the surviving members of Gang Of Four have attested to the late guitarist intense dedication to his art – reporting that Gill was continuously working on music, even while hospitalised. A statement from the band’s website wrote:
“His uncompromising artistic vision and commitment to the cause meant that he was still listening to mixes for the upcoming record, whilst planning the next tour from his hospital bed.”
According to Mayer, the forthcoming Anti Hero EP was named in honour of Gill to recognise his “very healthy scepticism of the lauding of so-called great men”, she told The Guardian.
“Andy talked about how it was becoming impossible for such populist figures to not intrude into his lyrics. He’d look at Trump’s tweets and go, ‘There’s a Gang of Four lyric right there.’”
The Anti Hero EP’s cover art, a portrait of Andy Gill, was designed by Shepard Fairey, the artist behind Barack Obama’s Hope poster.
