Fender celebrates 20 years of video game series Monster Hunter with Rathalos-themed Telecaster guitar

Fender and video game giant Capcom have teamed up on an epic Telecaster guitar featuring one of the most iconic creatures from the Monster Hunter franchise.
Inspired by the legendary Rathalos – or what’s often referred to as the “King of the Skies” , this special model arrives in celebration of the game’s 20th Anniversary and brings to life the world of Monster Hunter in all its mythical, monster-slaying glory.

As you’d expect, the guitar features a bunch of Rathalos-themed custom designed graphics and motifs from top to toe. You get the iconic Rathalos emblem with its striking wing pattern and fiery crest on the 12th fret inlay as well as on the back of the instrument. There are also guild marks painted on the front of the guitar’s body.

Beyond the visuals, the Rathalos Telecaster features a satin-finished alder body, Modern C-shaped maple neck, 22 medium jumbo frets, rosewood fingerboard, vintage locking tuners, a bone nut, and a 3-saddle vintage-style strings-through-body with slanted brass Barrel saddles.
The guitar is sounded with specially designed Monster Hunter Rathalos Humbucking pickups in the neck position and a single-coil pickup in the bridge position, which, according to Fender, delivers “powerful, rich tones that work great with distortion pedals.”
This special model also includes a black hardshell case equipped with an original collaboration badge, and a certificate of authenticity with the same numbering engraved on the neck plate. It is priced at $1,999.99.
As part of the launch, a limited edition model — featuring Rathalos’ claw marks on the pickguard — will be available exclusively at the Fender Flagship Tokyo store in Harajuku and Fender Japan’s online store. The guitar’s body binding, 12th fret inlays, and side dots are made of a luminescent material that glows red in the dark for added flair.

And to further celebrate Monster Hunter’s 20th anniversary, a special collection of guitar picks and a matching pick case will be released alongside the Telecaster guitars. The picks are inspired by Rathalos and feature familiar in-game material icons, such as tail, wings, and scales — materials earned by defeating the beast.
