Ernie Ball expands popular Slinky series, unveils new picks
Ernie Ball has added a slew of products to its catalogue of accessories. Fresh on the menu are three Slinky electric strings – Primo, Mega and Mammoth – a Beefy Slinky bass string set and two new pick types. Here are the details:
Primo and Mega Slinky
These two electric string sets feature half-gauge combinations previously not offered in the Slinky range. The Primo has a gauge range of 9.5, 12, 16, 24, 34 and 44 while the Mega’s string gauges are 10.5, 13.5, 17.5, 28, 38 and 48.
Not only do these string sets offer classic Slinky balance and comfort, they’re also tailored for players desiring “added playability with minimal differences in tone and tension”, according to Ernie Ball. The Primo sits between Regular Slinky and Super Slinky strings, while the Mega is designed for those who like thicker sounds.
Retails at £6.99 each.
Mammoth Slinky
This electric set is the heaviest Slinky strings available, featuring gauges of 12, 16, 24, 24, 48 and 62. They’re designed for lower alternate tunings – drop A, drop B and C standard – while still preserving Slinky tone and feel. These should do the trick for those needing more low-end in their guitar tone.
Retails at £7.99.
Beefy Slinky
A new addition to the Bass Slinky range, the Beefy string set is meant for heavier playing – the roundwound strings are designed for lower tunings like BEAD, drop B and drop C.
Retails at £25.99.
Prodigy picks
